Fox to Develop Animated Comedy “Saloon”
Fox is developing an animated series titled “Saloon” from Elliott Kalan and Jenny Jaffe that is set in the frontier outpost of Timmy’s Town. The logline: A woman named Kevin runs the local saloon, McClanahan’s, where she functions as the townspeople’s unofficial leader/therapist/protector. At the other side of Timmy’s Town is a do-gooder male sheriff named Stacey Leslie whose only mission is to close Kevin’s “sinful” bar and run her out of town for good.
Kalan and Jaffe will both write and executive produce, with Gail Berman also executive producing via SideCar. Fox Entertainment and SideCar will produce.
Netflix Announces Original Belgium Series “Into the Night”
Netflix will introduce its first series from Belgium, drama “Into the Night,” in 2020. The six-part series, directed by Inti Calfat and Dirk Verheye (“Over Water”) and produced by Entre Chien et Loup, tells the story about retaining humanity in the face of a cosmic disaster, as a flight departs Brussels.
The series will feature an international cast from Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Russia, and Turkey.
The logline: “Into the Night” begins with a sudden solar event, as the sun inexplicably starts killing everything in its path. The show centers around the ‘lucky’ passengers and crew of an overnight flight out of Brussels, as they attempt to fly west – into the safety of the dark night. The plane’s manifest is multinational and multilingual, with passengers rich and poor, young and old, civilian and military. The seemingly ordinary travelers share but one thing: A desire to survive the sun – and each other – by any means necessary.
