HONORING THE BEST PROGRAMMING BY, FOR AND ABOUT WOMEN
By: Valerie Milano
Beverly Hills, California (The Hollywood Times) 5/25/2014. “For 39 years, the Alliance for Women in Media Foundation has led the Gracies as an annual celebration of exceptional programming and individual contributions that shine in creating realistic and faceted portrayals of women in all forms of media, from entertainment to news, conveyed through a variety of media.” Kay G. Olin, 2014 National Chair, Alliance for Women in Media Foundation quoted in The Gracies program booklet.
The 39th Annual Gracie Award was held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, International Ballroom and hosted by Honorary Chair Aisha Tyler. She was an excellent host and quite humorous. The evening started with a wonderful dinner, which included a delicious salad, awesome pretzel rolls and the main course of filet mignon and scallop potatoes with vegetables. The dessert was on a tray in the middle of the table with a Gracie statue made of chocolate surrounded by pink round cookies, round chocolate balls, tart fruit pastry and strawberry sponge cake.
The show included a performance by Grammy Award-Winning singer Deniece Williams signing her 1984 hit, “Let’s Hear It For The Boy,” the audience was up on their feet clapping and dancing away. What a great performance and Deniece had some pretty great moves and sure entertained us.
