CBS Defends Its Diversity

Exec Also Talks HIMYD By Valerie Milano Beverly Hills, CA (The Hollywood Times) 7/17/14 - After ABC presented itself as a diverse network at TCA Summer Tour, Nina Tassler, chairwoman of CBS Entertainment, faced questions that perhaps her network cannot boast the same. “I think from sunup to sundown, across the entire schedule, there is diversity,” Tassler said. “The Talk is one of the most diverse shows in daytime,” she added, before pointing to the shows that have diverse leads such as Halle Berry, Lucy Liu and Maggie Q. “We always look to add more diverse characters to shows if we feel we haven't delivered as best as we would like to,” Tassler explained. Giving another example of diversity, Tassler pointed to The McCarthys, which is based on Brian Gallivan’s life and features a lead character who is gay.
