San Diego, CA (The Hollywood Times) 07/23/2016 – Suicide Squad slayed the Hall H audience at Comic-con 2016 as director, David Ayer, brought footage for the crowd that showed the explosive, action-packed, quirky humor of the group of destructive evildoers to the big screen. Rocking some top chart music along with comic book imagery, the clip turned out to be the perfect, high-octane presentation for the crowd who went wild. Warner Bros. (WB) will release the film on August 5th.
In attendance for the panel discussion were cast members Jared Leto, Will Smith, Tom Hardy, Margot Robbie, Jai Courtney, Cara Delevingne, Viola Davis, Ben Affleck, and Common; along with director David Ayer.
Moderator Conan O’Brien introduced the panel of bad guys. Ayer shared that he wanted “to make a film that looked like a comic book” and he accomplished this feat with the Suicide Squad flick, telling a story about bad people who are recruited to do good. Smith said that Ayer explained the modus operandi of these characters as “not good versus evil, but bad versus evil”. Davis remarked that her character was “one of the most tough-minded characters” she’s ever seen. Leto lassoed the Hall H crowd into a call and response moment with an already answered question asking, “what’s your favorite movie (Suicide Squad)?” Robbie summed it up in sassy Harley Quinn fashion with “what everyone did in the film, I did it in heels”.
