SHOWTIME^® ORDERS SECOND SEASON OF THE L WORD^®: GENERATION Q

LOS ANGELES – January 13, 2020 – SHOWTIME has ordered a ten-episode second season of THE L WORD: GENERATION Q, the sequel to the groundbreaking drama series THE L WORD^®. Season one has followed the intermingled lives of Bette Porter (Jennifer Beals), Shane McCutcheon (Katherine Moennig) and Alice Pieszecki (Leisha Hailey), along with new characters Dani Nùñez (Arienne Mandi), Micah Lee (Leo Sheng), Finley (Jacqueline Toboni), Sophie Suarez (Rosanny Zayas) and Gigi (Sepideh Moafi), as they experience love, heartbreak, sex, setbacks and success in L.A. Currently airing Sundays at 10 p.m. ET/PT, season one is executive produced by showrunner Marja-Lewis Ryan (The Four-Faced Liar, 6 Balloons), with series creator Ilene Chaiken, Kristen Campo, Allyce Ozarski, Steph Green (pilot), and original series stars Jennifer Beals, Katherine Moennig and Leisha Hailey. The season finale is set to air on January 26. The announcement was made today at the Television Critics Association’s Winter Press Tour.

THE L WORD: GENERATION Q season one follows Bette (Beals) weaving her way through a contentious mayoral run while co-parenting her and Tina’s teenage daughter; Shane (Moennig) returning to L.A. and embarking on her new career as owner of a lesbian bar while trying to save her marriage; and Alice (Hailey) stepping into the spotlight as host of her own queer-focused talk show. Meanwhile, PR pro Dani (Mandi) is running communications for Bette’s campaign while balancing her relationship with fiancée Sophie (Zayas), a producer for Alice’s show. Production assistant Finley (Toboni) and professor Micah (Sheng) are finding their footing in the L.A. dating scene, while Gigi (Moafi) navigates family dynamics with her ex, Nat (guest star Stephanie Allynne), who is Alice’s current girlfriend. Season one guest stars include Megan Rapinoe, Brian Michael Smith, Olivia Thirlby, Fortune Feimster and Latarsha Rose.

SHOWTIME^® RENEWS WORK IN PROGRESS FOR A SECOND SEASON

Season One Of The Critically Acclaimed Comedy Series Airs Sunday Nights At 11 PM ET/PT

With Its Season Finale On January 26

LOS ANGELES – January 13, 2020 – SHOWTIME has picked up a second season of the critically acclaimed comedy series WORK IN PROGRESS. Created and written by Chicago improv mainstays Abby McEnany and Tim Mason and co-written by Lilly Wachowski (The Matrix), the series stars McEnany as a fictionalized version of herself whose misfortune and despair unexpectedly lead her to a vibrantly transformative relationship. The ten-episode second season will be entirely written, shot and produced in Chicago this year. Season one currently airs on Sundays at 11 p.m. ET/PT, with its season finale set to air January 26. The announcement was made today by Jana Winograde, President of Entertainment, Showtime Networks Inc., at the Television Critics Association’s Winter Press Tour.

“We could not be more gratified that both critics and viewers are responding to the spark of creativity and original point of view that blew us away when we first saw the pilot that screened at Sundance last year,” said Winograde. “We fell in love with Abby at first sight, and are eager to share in the laughter (and tears) that she, Tim and Lilly will undoubtedly evoke in season two.”

In addition to McEnany, season one stars Chicago-based performer Karin Anglin alongside Celeste Pechous, with Julia Sweeney (Saturday Night Live, Shrill) appearing in a crucial role as herself. Theo Germaine (The Politician) also appears as a special guest star. WORK IN PROGRESS is executive produced by McEnany, Mason and Wachowski, who also serve as co-showrunners. Lawrence Mattis, Ashley Berns and Josh Adler of Circle of Confusion also serve as executive producers, along with Tony Hernandez of JAX Media (DESUS & MERO) and Julia Sweeney. Mason also serves as director this season, with Jacqueline “JJ” Ingram serving as supervising producer. SHOWTIME^® SETS SEASON FIVE PREMIERE DATE FOR HIT DRAMA BILLIONS

LOS ANGELES – January 13, 2020 – Today, SHOWTIME announced that season five of the hit drama series BILLIONS will premiere on Sunday, May 3 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Starring Oscar^®nominee and Emmy^®and Golden Globe^®winner Paul Giamatti and Emmy and Golden Globe winner Damian Lewis, BILLIONS is currently in production in New York. As previously announced, Emmy and Golden Globe winner Julianna Margulies (The Good Wife) and Golden Globe nominee Corey Stoll (House of Cards) will guest star in multiple episodes of the fifth season. In season five of BILLIONS, Bobby Axelrod (Lewis) and Chuck Rhoades (Giamatti) see their vicious rivalry reignited, while new enemies rise and take aim. Social impact pioneer Mike Prince (Stoll) poses a true threat to Axe’s dominance, and Chuck feuds with a formidable district attorney. Taylor Mason (Asia Kate Dillon) is forced back to Axe Capital, where they must fight to protect their employees and their assets. Wendy Rhoades (Maggie Siff) reevaluates her loyalties and forges surprising new alliances that put her at odds with both Chuck and Axe. This season, the struggle for power becomes a struggle for survival, and all characters must adapt or risk extinction. Margulies will play Catherine Brant, an Ivy League sociology professor and bestselling author. The series also stars David Costabile, Condola Rashad, Kelly AuCoin and Jeffrey DeMunn.

BLACK MONDAY is a co-production between SHOWTIME and Sony Pictures Television. Season one of the series followed Maurice “Mo” Monroe (Cheadle) as he and his group of outsiders took on the blue-blood, old-boys club of 1987 Wall Street, ultimately leading to the largest stock market crash in history, AKA Black Monday. Friends became enemies, traders became traitors, and two people became dead. This season focuses on the aftermath: As we begin, Dawn (Hall) and Blair (Rannells) are the bosses now, quickly learning that heavy is the head that wears the crown, especially when that head is constantly looking over its shoulder for Mo, who’s on the run with Keith (Scheer). Who will go down for the crash? Who will go down for the murders? Who will go down for fleecing Mo? All will be revealed in season two.

SHOWTIME^® DOCUMENTARY FILMS ANNOUNCES UPCOMING SLATE

LOS ANGELES – January 13, 2020 – Today, SHOWTIME Documentary Films announced upcoming titles from its 2020 slate from preeminent documentarians, including LOVE FRAUD from Rachel Grady and Heidi Ewing, THE TRADE from Matthew Heineman, THE LONGEST WAR from Greg Barker, Alex Gansa and Howard Gordon, KINGDOM OF SILENCE from Alex Gibney, Rick Rowley and Lawrence Wright, and THE KINGMAKER from Lauren Greenfield. Emmy^®winners and Academy Award^® nominees Heidi Ewing and Rachel Grady make their first foray into episodic television with LOVE FRAUD, which will have a World Premiere at the Sundance Film Festival on Thursday, January 23, the first time in the festival’s history a television series will screen on Day One. The four-part docu-series follows the search for one man, Richard Scott Smith, who over the past 20 years used the internet and his dubious charms to prey upon unsuspecting women in search of love — conning them out of their money and dignity. Ewing and Grady capture the story as it unravels in real time as his victims band together to seek sweet revenge by turning to a bounty hunter when they feel the justice system has failed them. LOVE FRAUD will premiere on SHOWTIME on Friday, May 8. Ewing and Grady direct and executive produce the series, along with executive producer Amy Goodman Kass.

The IDA-winning series THE TRADE, directed by Emmy and DGA Award winner and Oscar^® nominee Matthew Heineman, will premiere at Sundance on Tuesday, January 28 ahead of the network premiere on Friday, March 6. This season, the four-part series follows Central Americans on an odyssey to the United States (and others heading back home after being deported), while also delving into the shadow industries that prey on them at every step along the way. By shedding light on the smugglers and traffickers who take advantage of the migrant’s vulnerability, and law enforcement pursuing them at the border, THE TRADE takes audiences inside the rarely seen underbelly of the migrants’ world, and humanizes their struggle to survive. THE TRADE is executive produced by Heineman, Pagan Harleman and Joedan Okun.

As their prolific series HOMELAND comes to an end this season, Emmy and Peabody winning series creators and executive producers Alex Gansa and Howard Gordon have teamed up with Emmy winning director Greg Barker for THE LONGEST WAR, which will unpack the human stories and drama behind America’s involvement since 9/11 in Afghanistan, now the longest war in U.S. history. The documentary feature unfolds through the eyes of first-hand witnesses — a compelling cast of characters ranging from U.S. intelligence operatives, soldiers and their families, Afghan officials, journalists, top government and military officials — all of whom will bring their experiences to life through groundbreaking, emotional interviews. THE LONGEST WAR will premiere on SHOWTIME on Sunday, April 19 at 10 p.m. ET/PT, immediately following the penultimate episode of HOMELAND.

Academy Award-nominated and Emmy-winning filmmaker Rick Rowley (16 SHOTS, Dirty Wars) directs the network’s forthcoming documentary feature KINGDOM OF SILENCE (previously named HOUSE OF SAUD), a political thriller examining the complex relationship between the United States and Saudi Arabia, and how the murder of Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi amplified entanglements between the two countries. The film, executive produced by award-winning filmmaker Alex Gibney (ENEMIES: THE PRESIDENT, JUSTICE & THE FBI, Citizen K) and Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Lawrence Wright (The Looming Tower), shines new light on Khashoggi’s remarkable journey – from the battlefields of Afghanistan to the halls of power in Riyadh and Washington, from the Arab Spring to the rise of Saudi Arabia’s new Crown Prince. KINGDOM OF SILENCE will have a theatrical run before premiering on SHOWTIME later this year.

The network also announced Emmy winning director Lauren Greenfield’s latest film THE KINGMAKER, nominated for a Critics’ Choice Best Documentary Feature Award and a WGA Award for Best Documentary Screenplay, will premiere on Friday, February 28 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. The critically acclaimed documentary, which was named to several 2019 “Best Of” lists during the theatrical run, explores the disturbing legacy of the Marcos regime in the Philippines, and chronicles Imelda’s present-day push to help her son, Bongbong, win the vice presidency. The final season of HOMELAND finds Carrie Mathison (Danes) recovering from months of brutal confinement in a Russian gulag. Her body is healing, but her memory remains fractured – which is a problem for Saul (Patinkin), now National Security Advisor to the newly ascendant President Warner (Emmy and Golden Globe winner Beau Bridges). The top priority of Warner’s young administration is an end to the “forever war” in Afghanistan, and Saul has been dispatched to engage the Taliban in peace negotiations. But Kabul teems with warlords and mercenaries, zealots and spies – and Saul needs the relationships and expertise that only his protégé can provide. SHOWTIME^® ANNOUNCES 11^TH AND FINAL SEASON OF SHAMELESS

TO PREMIERE THIS SUMMER

LOS ANGELES – January 13, 2020 – SHOWTIME has announced that it has picked up an 11^th and final season of its hit comedy series SHAMELESS, premiering this summer. SHAMELESS, which originally premiered in the winter of 2011, ranks as the network’s no. 1 comedy, its longest-running series and has the youngest-skewing audience of any SHOWTIME series. Season 10 of SHAMELESS, which will finale on Sunday, January 26, has been averaging 5.7 million weekly viewers across platforms.
