Since Nielsen has stopped reporting the household overnight ratings in the morning, the national fast affiliate results are now our first source of data for each weekday. These are time period based, which means they are approximate because it includes anything airing in the time period (and not just the designated series if it is pre-empted). And they feature total viewers and the adult 18-49 rating and share (among other demos).

Monday, October 7, 2019

Total Viewers:
NBC: 7.14 million, ABC: 6.14, CBS: 5.55, Fox: 5.46, CW: 913,000

Adults 18-49:
Fox: 1.3 rating/5 share, NBC: 1.2/ 6, ABC: 0.8/ 4, CBS: 0.7/ 3, CW: 0.3/ 1

Key Observations:
-Fox drama “9-1-1,” the definition of an unsung hero, led the network to a Monday 18-49 demo victory. Just renewed lead-out “Prodigal Son,” however, did not benefit from the support.

-The three other Monday newbies — Bob Hearts Abishola” and “All Rise” on CBS and “Bluff City Law” on NBC – continue to struggle to find an audience in this era of “Peak TV” and increased digital consumption.

-NBC’s “The Voice” continues to beat competing “Dancing With the Stars” on ABC by significant proportions.

-Social media, as always, remains the benchmark to measure The CW by. The network did not even crack one million viewers, on average, with the season premieres of “All American” and “Black Lightning.”

-CBS’ fourth-place finish in adults 18-49 is, no doubt, a concern.
