ON THIS DAY
The final episode of “Monty Python’s Flying Circus” aired on BBC TV in 1974. It ran for five seasons…The sixth – and final – season of “McMillan, starring Rock Hudson, began on NBC’s “Mystery Movie” franchise in 1976. Originally titled “McMillan and Wife, the “Wife” was dropped after Susan St. James as Sally could not come to terms with a new contract. Also exiting the series was Nancy Walker, who left to star in her self-titled ABC sitcom. She was replaced by Martha Raye…In 1999, ABC presented movie “Oprah Winfrey Presents: Tuesdays with Morrie.” The film won an Emmy for Outstanding Made for TV Movie and its lead actors, Hank Azaria and Jack Lemmon, also took home Emmy statuettes…

“Malcolm in the Middle” star and “Dancing With the Stars Juniors” host Frankie Muniz is 34.

Did You Know?
The original three 90-minute series in NBC’s “Mystery Movie” franchise, which debuted on Sept. 15, 1971, was “Columbo, “McCloud” andMcMillan and Wife. By the final season in 1976, “Quincy, M.E., starring Jack Klugman, was added.  After four episodes, “Quincy” was spun-off into a weekly one-hour series. The last series in the franchise was “Lanigan’s Rabbi, which produced only four episodes.

NEW PROGRAM ANNOUNCEMENTS

Fox to Develop Drama “Silent Witness” and Comedy “This Country”
Fox has put into development two British adaptations – remakes of crime drama “Silent Witness” and comedy “This Country.” “Silent Witness,” starring Oscar winner Melissa Leo (“The Fighter”) follows two determined women with conflicting methodologies and their team while working for the Chief Medical Examiner in the shadow of a major departmental scandal involving corruption at the highest levels. With external biased pressures from all sides, they must use their scientific expertise to unravel clues in mysterious deaths while maintaining complete independence. Everybody tells a story: who they were, how they lived and, most importantly, how they died.

The series debuted on the BBC in 1996 and has aired for 22 seasons.

“This Country” follows a documentary crew, who go to a small town to study young adults and their current concerns. Their focus is the daily lives of cousins Kelly and Shrub Mallet and their quirky surroundings.

BET Networks Orders Limited Series “Uptown”
BET Networks announced new original scripted miniseries “Uptown” for 2020.The three-part television event will tell the story of Andre Harrell’s New York City record label, Uptown Records. Launched in 1986, following a joint venture deal with MCA, Uptown Records played a vital role in the careers of some of the most influential voices in hip hop, soul and R&B, including Heavy D & The Boyz, Russell Simmons, Lyor Cohen, Mary J. Blige, Jodeci, Father MC, Al B. Sure, Christopher Williams, Teddy Riley, Notorious B,I.,G., and Sean “Diddy” Comb.

Each episode of “Uptown” will take viewers from the label’s inception to current day, featuring the music and powerhouse hit-makers that helped mold what would come to be known as the Uptown ‘sound’ and define a musical era that would impact generations to come.

“Uptown” is executive produced by Jesse Collins (“The New Edition Story,” “The Bobby Brown Story”) for Jesse Collins Entertainment and Andre Harrell (Honey, “New York Undercover”).  Writers Charles Murray (“Luke Cage,” “Sons of Anarchy”), Carlito Rodriguez (“Empire,” “The Leftovers”) and Barry Michael Cooper (New Jack City, “She’s Gotta Have It”) have penned the scripts.

SAG Award Nominees to Be Announced on Wednesday, December 11
“Superstore’s” America Ferrera and Danai Gurira (“The Walking Dead,” “Black Panther”) will announce the nominees for the “26th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards” on Wednesday, December 11 at the Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood. The nominations announcement will be carried live on TNT, TBS, truTV, tntdrama.com/sag-awards, truTV.com and sagawards.org at 10 a.m. ET.

Nominations will begin with this year’s stunt ensemble honors nominees, announced by SAG Awards Committee Chair JoBeth Williams and SAG Awards Committee Member Elizabeth McLaughlin, during a live webcast on sagawards.tntdrama.com and sagawards.org at 9:50 a.m.ET.

2019 College Football Week 15 TV and Announcer Schedule

Championship Week begins as No. 5 Utah (11-1, 8-1) plays No. 13 Oregon (10-2, 8-1) for a Pac-12 crown (ABC, Dec. 6 8:00 p.m. ET). Utah seeks a better result after last season’s 10-3 title game loss to Washington. The Ducks look for their first Pac-12 championship since 2014.
The No. 6 Sooners and No. 7 Bears clash in the Big 12 championship game at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas (ABC, Dec. 7 noon ET). Oklahoma won its fifth in a row over Baylor with a 34-31 decision Nov. 16. Jalen Hurts passed for four touchdowns in that Sooners victory.
No. 2 LSU (12-0, 8-0 SEC) faces No. 4 Georgia (11-1, 7-1) for the SEC championship (CBS, Dec. 7 4:00 p.m. ET). This is the fourth meeting between the two in this game, with the Tigers holding a 2-1 edge. LSU is in its first title game since 2011, when it humbled Georgia 42-10.
The No. 1 Buckeyes (12-0, 9-0) and J.K. Dobbins meet the No. 8 Badgers (10-2, 7-2) in the Big Ten title game (Fox, Dec. 7 8:00 p.m. ET). Dobbins rushed for 1,657 yards and 19 touchdowns this year, with 163 yards and two scores in Ohio State’s 38-7 victory over Wisconsin on Oct. 26.
The tournament for the 2019 FCS football championship continues on Saturday, Dec. 7 with eight second-round games. Each of those games will air on ESPN3.
