Tiffany Haddish Says The Darndest Things
If you happen to be of a certain age (an advanced age, that is), you are familiar with “Kids Day the Darndest Things.” This comedic reality formula was originally featured on radio in “House Party,” hosted by Art Linkletter, which began in 1945, and as a segment on daytime variety series “Art Linkletter’s House Party.” Effective on TV in 1952, and for 17 years, Linkletter interviewed school children (an estimated 23,000) between the ages of five and ten.

In 1998, “Kids Say the Darndest Things” morphed into a standalone series on CBS, hosted by Bill Cosby, from 1998 to 2000. And, this fall, comedian and actress Tiffany Haddish (“Girls Trip,” The Last O.G.”) will take over the hosting chores on a rebooted version on ABC.

“Kids Say the Darndest Things” airs out of veteran “America’s Funniest Home Videos” (which will outlive us all at this point!) and into “Shark Tank,” all opposite Sunday Night Football on NBC. Translation: the expected audience base for “Kids Say the Darndest Things” will be limited. But because Haddish offers a new and energetic comedic twist on this proven format, non-football fans (or anyone not interested in competing “God Friended Me” on CBS, animated “The Simpsons” and “Bless The Harts” on Fox, and newbie “Batwoman” on The CW), may find these kids, and Haddish, worth visiting.
